Dairy free coconut yogurt, local honey and (Ceylon) cinnamon is what’s for breakfast today.

I have 1/2 to 1 teaspoon every morning in yogurt or drink as hot tea. Not more than that.

Want to know some fun things about cinnamon?

Ceylon cinnamon is considered the “true” cinnamon. It is full of antioxidants like polyphenols which fight oxidative stress and when used regularly, it has been shown to have many health benefits.

The other type of cinnamon is called Cassia, which is found in grocery stores. Overconsumption of Cassia can cause toxicity.

Studies suggest Ceylon cinnamon may contribute to heart health by improving blood lipid profiles. It helps manage blood sugar levels and insulin sensitivity. It has been shown to help lower blood pressure.

It has anti-inflammatory properties. Chronic inflammation is a contributing factor in many autoimmune disease such as Hashimoto’s and arthritis. It has also been shown to possess antibacterial and antifungal effects.

It is also suggested that it helps aid in digestion and cognitive function. I have found that when I am consistent, I have less bloating.

If you are planning to use Ceylon cinnamon everyday, please do your research on it as there could be counter indications with your current medications or lower blood pressure. Check with your doctor if you are pregnant or have an allergic reaction.

I am not a health professional. I’m just a perfectly imperfect girl, making small changes in my life to be healthy and keep my Hashimoto’s in check.

Much love and happiness to you. 💜
